Alpha Release #1001 - From On High


I almost want to apologize for such a quick update, but there was at least a fair amount since last time. Coming a bit early to rush out a few patches, there's a new cube category: 'Unique.' These will only appear once(unless you play long enough for its weight to return from the negative integer limit), and, as of the moment, only one variant will exist in any world. However, they bear powerful abilities not viable to throw on any volatile.

Uniques titled 'ordeals' will affect the world cube, and as of current, all of them fall under this classification. Here's a quick summary of the first three:

  • Ordeal of Erosion - A random cube directly visible to the sky ocassionally receives semi-minor damage.
  • Ordeal of Rain - Endless rain of all token, terrain, or feature cubes with the Liquid ability.
  • Ordeal of Violence - All damage is increased by 1. ALL damage.

There's also an extra, unrelated, liquid: The Olour Ue. It's pretty cute, and blue. Makes cubes melt and gain Liquid.

So, aye, not much, but what's there should pick up some the game's lackings dramatically, I think. And, there were still a few other changes and patches, which ultimately places the project at over 1000 commits:

BUGS

  • Ambience should no longer disrupt the consistent randomness of the world.
  • Pre-existing worlds will no longer be overwritten if the same seed is used when creating a new one.
  • Water now properly displays the amount of ticks until it moves, rather than 'one second.'
  • Game should no longer crash sometimes when the window size is smaller than a certain threshold.
  • World cube was able to die. It can't, anymore.
  • Liquid ability should no longer crash game under rare circumstances where its cube didn't exist.
  • Multiple cubes in the tutorial were reinforced, so it should break less.
  • Tutorial shouldn't rarely crash the game with quantum nulls when building weights. I still don't understand that one.
  • Tutorial weight values are now correctly matched and queuing a cube is now unable to crash the game at about a 1/300 chance near the beginning.

QoL

  • Text screenshots may now be saved under any screen.
